The FCSD #1 parent liaison is a staff member who works to bridge the gap between home and school. As a parent, you have a private link, connection, and bridge to your child’s school. Our liaison helps parents get the information and support they need to ensure their child’s academic and social success.
A parent liaison is the contact person who initiates a close connection/relationship and maintains that connection between two parties in order to ensure collaborative action and cooperation toward agreed-upon goals.
Parent Liaisons:
Facilitate parent-school communication
Facilitate community agency referrals
Encourage and support parent involvement in the school and assist as parents engage in their child’s development
Foster trust between parents and the educational community
Foster higher academic achievement through collaboration with school personnel
How can the Parent Liaison help?
Often, parents feel uncomfortable about sharing their questions or concerns with the teachers or school administrators. Since open communication between home and school is such a vital part of your child’s academic success, the parent liaison will listen to your concerns and then work with you to express your situation, question, or point of view. Parent liaisons want to be sure that you understand what you can do to get involved, keep informed, share information, and help your child do his or her best.
Lander Schools Parent Liaison
Hi, my name is Matt Jacobson. I am the parent liaison for Lander schools. An important and significant portion of my job is to act as a communication bridge between parents/guardians and the school and fill a role as Community Relations Coordinator.
I was born and raised in Wyoming and spent the first twenty-seven years of my career in the grocery industry in Wyoming, Colorado, and Arizona, including four years with Mr. D’s upon my family’s move to Lander in 2002. My wife and I raised our two daughters here, and both are graduates of Lander schools. Prior to coming to Lander schools as a liaison, I worked as a juvenile probation officer for Youth Services of Fremont County.
My desire is to bring all the connections I have made in the community these last twenty years to serve our students and families during their K–12 journey. I consider myself extremely fortunate to find myself in this role working with this passionate and dedicated group of people here at Lander schools.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
