Our Community

Located in Lander, Wyoming, our school is part of a supportive community. Explore some of the wonderful things we have to offer, and see what makes our community unique—and a wonderful place to live!

Sinks Canyon State Park
Only a ten-minute drive from Laneer, Sinks Canyon is named after a distinct geologic phenomena in which the tumbling Popo Agie river disappears into a limestone cavern and reappears a quarter-mile down the canyon into a peaceful pool filled with large rainbow trout! The canyon also provides a variety of recreational opportunities including rock climbing, hiking and bike trails, nature studies, camping, photography, and fishing.

Popo Agie Falls Trail
The Middle Fork Falls are formed where the Popo Agie River cascades over large rock outcrops as it drops into Sinks Canyon. The falls are actually a series of waterfalls and cascades, with the longest vertical fall about 60 feet high. The falls are about 12 miles from Lander.Bring a picnic lunch and your swimming suit, and slide down the rock slide of the waterfall.

Fremont County Pioneer Museum / Museum of the American West
This museum collects, preserves, and interprets artifacts from the Lander Valley, Fremont County, and western Wyoming dating from prehistoric times through the 1920s. Several different groups that inhabited central Wyoming helped establish the American West. This museum celebrates the diversity and cultural history of these groups in its unique, not-for-profit 8.61 acre outdoor/indoor museum complex. Visitors enjoy an engaging and unforgettable cultural history experience.

Wind River Wild Horse Sanctuary
Take a tour to see wild mustangs up close, learn about Native American culture, and experience life on a working cattle ranch of the Wind River Indian Reservation. The sanctuary provides professional care in a free-roaming environment.

Wind River Mountains
The centerpiece of Fremont County is the Wind River mountain range, home to Wyoming's largest peak (Gannett Peak) at over 14,000 feet.

Yellowstone National Park / Grand Teton National Park
Both parks are a two-hour drive from Lander, following the Wind River Mountains up the picturesque Wind River valley toward Togwotee Pass.
